Job Description


We're developing a playful, physics-based game, and are looking for a Lead Designer to join the team.

This is a hands-on role working directly in the engine, where you have an opportunity to define and shape the gameplay and overall design.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Leading the level design for the game, from prototype through to polished.

  • Collaborating closely with programmers to design, iterate and polish the feel of gameplay systems and mechanics.

  • Developing fun, engaging and thought-provoking gameplay & puzzles.

  • Taking ownership of levels, designing and developing these, ensuring the flow feels paced and varied.

  • Considering the meta game and how the content comes together as an overall player experience.

  • Prototyping, creating, iterating, polishing and bug-fixing design content.

  • Creating inspiring level layouts and compositions, taking into account player progression and vistas to guide the player.

  • Proactively contributing ideas and feedback to help us develop a great player experience.

  • Providing constructive feedback to the design team to ensure a fun and high-quality player experience, upholding the game direction.

  • Collaborating closely with Art, providing direction and feedback to ensure that art is clean, readable and cohesive with gameplay requirements.

  • Playtesting the game, providing constructive feedback and problem solving.

  • Ensuring that the content developed meets technical requirements.

  • Continually looking for ways to improve design processes.

You have:


  • A vivid imagination, creative spark and logical thinking.

  • A drive to create innovative, intriguing and expressive gameplay. 

  • A determination to push the quality and drive forward the game vision.

  • Prior experience in a Senior or Leadership design position.

  • Have shipped at least 1 PC or Console game, preferably in a similar genre.

  • Developed, or have a great passion / knowledge of physics-based games, and co-op games.

  • Hands-on in-engine implementation skills, with the knowledge and confidence to work independently in Unity.

  • A love for playing a variety of PC and Console games, and staying-up-to-date.

  • Comfortable working with version control and have done so before (preferably Git).

  • Preferably some C# scripting skills.
